LO4 (M4:U3, D1:U3) - Meeting the client Brief

Image
LO4 (U3) - Be able to carry our post-production techniques and processes for an original media product to a client brief Front Cover This is my front cover, in which I have exported as a JPEG. Double Page Spread This is my double page spread, in which I have exported as a JPEG. How this exported media product meets the brief The brief first asks me to create a new online and print based magazine for North London. This media I have exported can be used in a digital format, which it is currently in, which is the online part of the magazine, however it could also be printed on thick white hardback paper. It would be printed like this as it is a monthly magazine, therefore does not have to be eco friendly, because it is only sporadically created. In addition, it is completely based in North London, staring a real up and coming rock artist who travels around different locations of North London, performing in many venues. This meets the first stage of c...

LO4 (P5:U3) - Post production techniques and processes

Image
LO4 (U3) - Be able to carry out post production techniques and processes for an original media product to a client brief. There are many post-production techniques I have used, for example: magnetic lasso, effects such as stroke and emboss, backgrounds and changing of fonts. The magnetic lasso helped me cut out the rock artist who I took photos of, and place them in a new document. The wall behind him had different shades of white, and shadows, which meant I needed to eliminate these. By cutting round him with a magnetic lasso, it ensures I only have him afterwards. This enables me to place him on different backgrounds, such as the black and white brick wall which I used. As you can see from the image below, I used this tool to cut him and his guitar out of the current background. I also used effects on my writing and images. For example, I used an effect called 'stroke' on the circle in the top right hand corner. This added an outer layer to make it and it even...

LO3 (P4:U3, M3:U3) - Create Production Material

Image
LO3 (U3) - Be able to create production materials for an original media product to a client brief Photoshop template of front cover Photoshop template of double page spread Codes and conventions 1) The genre rock is renowned to be dark, heavy and quite intimidating. In nearly all the magazines I have seen, such as 'Classic Rock', the magazine has a black theme running through it. For my magazine, I have decided to stick with the social conventions of a darker theme, which is why my background is a dark black brick wall. However I have added a red effect into the magazine to make the colour stand out. 2) Instruments are presented in many rock genre magazines, as they are of massive importance. Rock genres main instruments are guitar, bass and drums. This is a theme that is placed in many rock magazines. Therefore, I have kept with the codes and conventions of these magazines by giving my rock artist a guitar to be held while the photo is being taken. ...

LO3 (D1:U21) - Evaluate the response

Image
LO3 (U21) - Be able to pitch ideas on a proposed media product and respond to questions The client feedback All of the feedback given by the client was useful for me in the production of my magazine. This is because his points were very valid in order for me to make it more successful. Upon reflection, there were no points that will not help with my development, instead I will be taking everything on board to develop. The client asked me if there were a growing number of rock venues in North London. My geographical and market research suggested that there was in fact a growing number of rock genre venues. Some of these venues include 'Dingwall's', 'Camden Assembly' and 'The Fiddlers Elbow'. I did my research on many websites and was able to find the venues along with the bands and artists that perform there. His most helpful point for me was about my target audience. Although I felt like the rock genre was more masculine, he suggested I op...

LO3 (P4:U21, M3:U21) - Pitch your ideas

Image
LO3 (U21) - Be able to pitch ideas on a proposed media product and respond to questions Feedback given by client The client seemed incredibly positive about my pitch and therefore provided limited feedback. I have listed the feedback that I received and have shown my understanding. Positives Covered lots of ground including all information required to start up the magazine Purely based on North London which achieves the client brief perfectly Marketing matrix was a clever idea to identify where competitors are in relation to where my magazine would be Negatives Steer clear of being gender bias Instead of having slides with huge amounts of words, do more graphics. Client questions 1) Why did you choose to only target only men? 2) Are there actually a growing number of rock venues? My responses 1) It is a predominantly male genre therefore targeting males would be a sensible option. However, I understand that there could be ethical issues therefore...

LO2 (P3:U21, M2:U21) - Planning and pitch preperation

Image
LO2 (U21) - Be able to create a proposal and pitch for an original media product based on a given brief This is a practice pitch for my North London based magazine on the genre rock. This was done as practice to gain feedback from my teacher and peers in order to improve it for the real pitch. This ensures I will be able to deliver a high quality final pitch, including all relevant and necessary information to enable it to be successful. Practice pitch Original presentation Media pitch powerpoint from TheoRubins I used this pitch in order to make amendments on specific parts that were not good enough or did not include the relevant information. From this feedback below, I was able to take it on board and make those improvements. Feedback Use the word 'masthead' instead of 'title' when talking about what fonts to use for the front cover of the magazine. Make sure to narrow down the target audience because it is way too large. Do not...
